{"id":5024,"date":"2022-04-30T14:41:35","date_gmt":"2022-04-30T18:41:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.davidlehmann.org\/lehmann\/?p=5024"},"modified":"2022-04-30T14:41:38","modified_gmt":"2022-04-30T18:41:38","slug":"dissidence-and-conformism-in-religious-movements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.davidlehmann.org\/lehmann\/2022\/04\/30\/dissidence-and-conformism-in-religious-movements\/","title":{"rendered":"Dissidence and Conformism in Religious Movements"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This paper tries to distinguish between religious movements which transform religious life and others which do so to a small or insignificant extent, using the contrast between conformism and dissidence \u2013 and emphatically avoiding quasi-political metaphors such as \u2018progressive\u2019 and conservative\u2019.
